The Book of Dead Days by Marcus Sedgwick
This was an awesome book. Get your hands on it and read it. The story takes place in the time between Christmas and New Year's, also known as the Dead Days. The magician Valerian is running out of time, a deal he made must now be paid before the end of the Dead Days. Dragging his servant/assistant Boy and his friend Willow all over the city and country side to find the clue that may help him escape his fate, but what it the price for escaping his deal.

Down These Mean Streets by Keith R.A. DeCandido
Heh, another Spider-man book. And actually I really liked this one. In this one, there's a new drug working it's way through the streets. It's a variation on ecstacy, but heavily dosed with good old Gamma raditation. So it's turning users in Hulk-like super powered nutters. Then swiftly killing them with radiation poisoning. Mary Jane has a more active role in this book than in Darkest Hours. Which is cool by me, as I actually like Mary Jane for the most part.
Adult/Teen/Dork

The Ice Dragon by George R. Martin
I'm not sure if I like this one at all. The story had such potential, but it didn't feel as fully developed as it should have been. The story felt like it was supposed to be an attempt at an original folk tale, which explains the lack of length, but isn't as developed as a good folk tale should be, nor does the main character endear herself in any real way to the reader. I felt for her in the beginning, but lost interest in her quickly. The illustrations are beautiful, but that's not enough to make me recommend the book for reading.
Juvenile

Psyche in a Dress by Francesca Lia Block
I'm fencing on this one too. I had to read most of Block's books for a Teen Lit project a couple of years ago. And while I enjoyed her books, she tends to always write characters who are so hideously abused by the adult in their lives; emotionally, physically, and sexually. And this one is no exception. The one thing I did rather enjoy about this one, is that the whole thing is set up like a poem rather than the usual prose.

The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan
This is a sequel to The Lightning Thief. And for a sequel I actually liked it better. The action picks up quicker, and there were a couple of nice little twists to the story that set it up rather nicely (rather than awkwardly) for a third book.
