Well, back from my jury summons. Fed and watered.

And on a Grand Jury.

WTF, mate.

I'm stuck going at most 3 times a month for the next 10-18 MONTHS.

Thanks. ^_^

I'm not looking forward to this, no matter what the government guys say about being on a general Grand Jury.

Wow, that does suck. At least you'll have plenty of time to reflect on the inner-workings of our important legal system...(or something like that).

Oh, and be sure to hang 'em, and award a million dollars to someone, and maybe ignore crucial evidence in light of current political and social pressure...you know, the American Way!

Sucks rocks in a decidedly negative way.

Fortunately I don't have to do any of that. I just get to decide if the DA has enough evidence to go to trial.

Oh, before I forget, I got approved for the professional registration, so I'm going to try my hardest to get there on Friday, but I will definately be there on Saturday. I'm also trying to convince our Teen Librarian that she should come nerd with us for Friday. She needs the exposure. ::grins::

You poor, poor thing. ::patpats:: I had a coworker who got picked for Grand Jury duty TWICE in a three-year span -- it was crazy! Will you be paid by your employer for the days you're forced to be there?

I know that three years after you serve on a Grand Jury you go back into the random selection thing. Unusual that they would have to go back again so soon though.

I'm not sure if I get paid by the town, I hope that I do though. I know I'm getting $40 plus milage and parking per day for jury duty. That $40 strangely isn't any more than I make on a normal day. And after I start my new hours it will be less. I think I may be the first one in a very long time to get stuck on a Grand Jury. I'm gonna try to head into work early so I can talk to my supervisor and see what she knows.

::surfaces from end-of-quarter rush::

Ewww.... Sounds ghastly. And for 10-18 months? O_o Why such a long stretch? And I thought that two weeks of fulfilling my civic obligations was bad enough.

'Tis pretty darn ghastly.

It's Grand Jury. So all we do is listen to the DA's evidence to see if there is enough evidence to take the case to trial. Normally it's an 18 month stint, but the district I'm in is running an experiment with 10 months. However if we get a case with multiple days of evidence we will be kept over the 10 months to finish. Rather than have to start over with a new Grand Jury.

Yay! Bishies and sugar. Joy!!
