I am so very very ready to kill my youngest brother, Dave. In the span of a few months he's gone from an okay kid, to the most disrespectful dick ever. And it's not the stuff he's done to me that's made me this angry (although, I'm this close to banning him from borrowing my DVDs), it's the way he treats our dad.
My dad is the king of bad puns and jokes. It's like there's no stopper between his brain and his mouth sometimes. Years ago, we opted to humor him. It's easier that way, even though it's not funny anymore. Hasn't really been for ages.
Tonight over dinner dad made some sort of goofy joke about something my brother said. My brother sneers over at dad and tells him to shut up. Dad, either not picking up on Dave's attitude or pretending not to pick up on it, just laughed. Mom turned to look at Dave and looked like she was ready to hit him.
And this has been going on since shortly after Thanksgiving. Although he was treating me that way long before. I hope mom says something to both of them, I'd rather not get in the middle of it if I can help it. I may mention it to her when she gets back.
Neither me or my middle brother *ever* treated dad like that when we were 17. If I wasn't certain that he feared mom's wrath as much as I do, I might be concerned that he was involved in something he shouldn't be, like drugs.
