Cosplay Update
Jul. 11th, 2005 02:46 pmWay too warm in here, but at least the house is somewhat back to normal. Most of the relatives have bugged up to another relative's house in New Hampshire for the rest of the week. Which means I can finally take a real shower again!! ::blissful sigh::
Did some more costume work this weekend. Not as much as I would have liked, but I kept getting dragged to go 'family' things. I did get the arm bands and rings just about done. I may have to trim a bit off the arm bands so I can close them a bit tighter though. They tend to slip off my arm when I straighten out. The rings worked out pretty good, I just have to remember to tack them to the sleeves sideways so that the opening isn't visible. When dad's vacation is over I'll have him bead blast them and spraypaint them silver to take off the marks and smudges that cutting left. I'm wearing the rings now to try and get used to the weight by the con. I normally hate wearing jewelry and pick at it.
I've got the individual metal squares measured out for the crown, they just have to be cut and shaped. We're going to try making the deeper sections on the crown by cutting the center out and tacking in a smaller plate. We're not sure how well we'll be able to get them to roll to the right shape with the doubled up metal, but it won't hurt to try. I won't buy the fabric for the crown until I know it's working in my favor.
Sakka-chan, your jacket is moving along pretty good. Most of it is done. I just have to put the hood in, cut the slit up the back, hem the edges and repaint the flamel. I even tried the thing on. Was way too amusing wandering around the house thinking Ed-type thoughts. I'm not sure about the sleeve length though. I made them a bit longer this time around, which I'm thinking will work out just fine. You'll like this one better than the last one, the material hangs just right.
Now back to work and watching Orphen (now that I have the rest of season 1).
