Anime Then and Now and Igo at school
Jan. 26th, 2004 12:54 pmI remember during my time at high school when my boyfriend at the time got me interested in anime. At that time there were very few people interested in anime, and I grew up in a relatively conservative yuppy-ish sort of town. There was very little available in English and manga was down right impossible to get. The best I could get was a couple of page scans on the net. And my senior exit project on the effects and history of anime was something unheard of.
Now, I see kids at work coming in to read the graphic novels I pushed for. They find a quiet corner to sit and read. And my youngest brother who just started high school actually met a kid in his study hall who was playing go and was a fan of Hikaru no Go.
Such a change in those ten years after being forced to watch Demon City Shinjuku....
