Otakon Report

Thursday
madamhydra and eventually got modivated enough to get in the car, and with a minor detour for new yarn for Hydra, we made it to the hotel by 1:00 or so. A leisurely lunch and then up to the room to patch my costume while waiting for
silvertales to get into BWI. Picked her up in front of the BCC and went back to unpack and have a equally leisurely dinner before hitting the pre-reg lines.
All went surprisingly well and we had badges, art dropped in the show and back to the room before 11. Yay!
Friday
silvertales,
madamhydra and I wandered down to AA and got set up for the day. We traded off later in the afternoon so that we might all get down to the dealers room. Except me. I spent the day with a very angry tummy. I must learn never to eat eggs at the hotel. They never agree with me, but this was like Impending Doom sort of thing.
But Hydra came back with Saiyuki Reload 9, Saiyuki Gaiden 3 and Wild Adapter 6. ::happy purr::
The overall day was pretty slow and sales were less than stellar, so I puttered around with my cross-stitch. Then
sharona1x2 stopped by for a visit and a hug!
Kit and I stayed the extra time in AA, Hydra gave up and a more sensible time for dinner and scouring the net for pr0n, so that we could leave her art in the room rather than lugging it back and forth everyday. And the hotel was nice enough to pack up dinner for me and Kit. It still didn't sit really well, but better than I expected. We also stayed up incredibly late, despite the fact we needed to be up earlier the next morning.
Saturday
We had an early breakfast, and in an effort to appease my tummy I switched to carbs and fruit. Much safer really, then we trooped back to AA with plenty of time to spare getting the table ready again.
Things overall were much busier, which made us all much happier. And
orewashinigami found us completely by accident and much reminicing about the 'good old days' of fandom ensued. Not that any of us are that old, but with anime fandoms moving as fast as they do, we're practically decrepid.
Eventually I made it to the Dealer's Room to visit with
joasakura for a bit and pay her for my gently used tablet. Yay! Drawing! I also picked up Saiyuki Reload 9, Salty Dog V and the Kingdom Hearts manga artbook. I wanted Wild Adapter 6, but Sasuga was out and Kino brought so little manga with them I was shocked.
I missed
sharona1x2's return visit. Sharon, email me or something. The message you left me got a little scrambled on the repeat. ^_^
I also saw a t-shirt I want in a bad way, but was foolish enough not to buy it then and there. So if anyone runs across the Zombie Hierarchy of Needs shirt that includes love and shiny things point me in the right direction.
We repeated the dinner routine from Friday, and again stayed in AA til closing and repeated the not sleeping thing. Yay!
Sunday
We woke up WAY late, managed to choke down breakfast, then dash to AA just in time for set up.
I had to leave early to catch my flight home (which ended up delayed, damn you LGA!), as my tickets had been bought before silvertales was able to get a table and I had to repack things for Costa Rica. Which I still feel a bit tired from.
Fun was had by all, and Kit and I are making plans like woah for next year. Dad and I are doing some planning to make a set of nifty verticles for next year, so that we can look as spiffy as some of the other tables. That and possibly getting a second table so I can start selling some stuff. ^___^
* the title of this report can be blamed on the creators of Lego Indiana Jones for giving me llamas, poop and bazookas all in the same level.
