Back From Shoujocon!
Aug. 24th, 2003 06:54 pmHeyo! Back is I, and had a pretty decent time I did.
This shoujocon wasn't nearly has busy and happening at last year. There were probably quite a few contributing factors to all this. In no particular order, just when they hit my brain:
~Poor location.
This was a real bad spot. Transportation there, for me anyway, involved a lot of commuter trains. Three in total. It was in the middle of nowhere and as my friends who drove down said, it was really tough to navigate,
~The Hotel
The hotel was a bit too fancy for an anime con. and the hotel staff really didn't know what to do with us. The hotel was also like a maze, damn it all if I didn't feel like a rat when I got there. The floors were all out of order. They made the huge mistake of not creating room blocks so that all the fans would be on the same floors and areas. Thursday night, about 10:30, we got security called on us for a noise complaint. >_< At least it was amusing putting the fear of drunk Otaku in the wait staff. Did I mention the place was a like a maze.
~Poor timing.
This was a just a bit too late to be having an anime con. There are quite a number of schools already back in session.
However the weekend was a not wholly wasted. I got to work for Shoujo Paradise for the weekend. That certainly kept me busy and proves that my math skills are lacking. ::shrugs:: I never was good with numbers. And Jaana hooked me up with some good and smutty doujinshi. ::cackle::
Cosplay was great. I didn't get mobbed by nearly as many people as I did at Otakon, but at least we had all the really important Hikaru no Go characters. Hikaru, Akira, and Sai (me). Might do some costume work for my friends for next con season. I'm already pondering.
