Yeah, haven't posted in quite a while. Work has been just a little slice of Hell. Yep, capital 'H' on this one, and it doesn't translate to hentai. >_<
You would figure that this being the fourth Summer Reading Program I've been involved in that I would have a handle on managing my day. Sadly I'm leaving work at the end of the day far more tired than the previous summers ever left me. My throat is sore from explaining the rules of the contest 20+ times a day and by the middle of my shift I'm usually ready to drop dead from all the returned books and CDs and CD-ROMs and Books on Tape. All in all though, I'm proud of what we do for the kids. We give an average of 700-800 children in town and surrounding towns a big incentive to read books during the summer. We have raffle prizes. And not cheesy ones either. Our most expensive raffle prize this year again, tickets to a Red Sox vs. Mariners game.
And we have a return visit rate; meaning that the kids come back to participate in a craft program, story hour, or simply to get their raffle tickets; of approximately 65%. And that was last year's, I think this year we might get another 5-10%.
Good job us. ^__^
On a more shallow note. Went to see Pirates of the Caribbean on Wednesday night... one word for Depp and Bloom. Woof. I must see that again soon. ^___^
Now back to working on my costume.
