kikoteiIf anyone is looking for a real good Japanese cookbook, I recommend this one Japanese Cooking: A Simple Art. For an older book (1980) is still very, very good.
It's got a bunch of color plates of basic ingredients, and examples of seasonal meals. There is page after page of the history of different ingredients and customs regarding food and eating. Loads of tables and indices in the back. Not to mention LOTS of recipes.
