Books and Fees
Jun. 10th, 2004 05:03 pmExcuse the work bitching. I'm just so fustrated right now.
I work with careless idiots. Really I do. Not a lot of them, just one or two. Enough to occasionally screw things up and leave me with a huge mess of paperwork to straighten out and back track.
I've spent the last two days clearing books off the new shelf to make room for the new additions that we'll be getting in a few weeks. Just on reflex I always discharge the book to make sure that it isn't still on some one's card and that the record is clear. I came across one that cleared as a an item that was lost and paid for.
Now not only are we not supposed to use that lost and paid function if some one comes in to pay for a lost book, but this was back in February! That means the money is processed and I have no recourse to give the patron back their money, which for a hardcover book like that had to have been at least $15-17.
