Cooking!!!
Jan. 12th, 2006 10:53 pmI suppose that if I can't find one ingredient I need that I can do without.
I've been hit with the insane urge to make Sakuramochi this weekend, but I can't find the azuki beans for the filling around here. I guess I can just make plain mochi, but I kinda had my heart set on Sakuramochi. I even tracked down my bottles of food coloring (which may be nearly as old as me if the packaging is any indication).
I was going to try replacing the azuki beans with small red beans, but this site doesn't list small reds as a possible substitute for azuki.
Anyone have an opinion?
EDIT: I guess I can really. They list kidney beans as a substitute for azuki, and kidney and small red can be sub'ed for each other.
