Jun. 16th, 2005 11:58 pmBecause I was bored and in need of mindless sci-fi to read late at night when I should be sleeping, I picked up the novelization of 'Revenge of the Sith'. I've been so-so on Star Wars novels for quite some years. Last one I really enjoyed was 'Truce at Bakura', which, aside from some Mary Sue moments, was pretty fun to read. 'Shadows of the Empire' was pretty good too. I may have to reread those two this summer.
Anyway.
I've noticed a trend in the more recent new trilogy based books.
Obi-Wan reads very, very gay. ::snickers::
In 'Rogue Planet' dear Obi is admiring how atttractive Anakin looks while sleeping. ^_~
Behind the cut (because of those icky copyright laws) is part of the scene where Obi-Wan wakes up slung over Anakin's shoulder after they've rescued Palpatine. From the novelization by Matthew Stover.
Beyond this scene (which is entirely too amusing) the rest of the book is okay, the chapter starts are interesting. Still reads like fanfic though.

Obi-Wan Kenobi opened his eyes to find himself staring at what he strongly suspected was Anakin's butt.
It looked like Anakin's butt - well, his pants, anyway - though it was thoroughly impossible for Obi-Wan to be certain, since he had never before had the occasion to examine Anakin's butt upside down, which it currently appeared to be, nor from this rather uncomfortably close range.
And how he might arrived at this angle and this range was entirely baffling.

Date: 2005-06-17 02:39 pm (UTC)A personal fantasy that I will happily wallow in myself, from time to time.
The Qui/Obi fandom had some of the best sci-fi cliches. My personal favorite for a while was the fertility rites on backwater planets. ::snicker::
The ones I like to to back and reread every so often are the Anne Higgins 'Bonding' series (great TPM fix) and Cat and Mouse, whose author I forget at the moment.

Date: 2005-06-17 05:06 pm (UTC)Yes. it reads a bit like fanfic ("butt" - a word rarely making an appearance in serious science fiction....), but pretty good fanfic. the kind of fanfic I'd while away a lunch hour reading.
Even if TPM/etc. has never been exactly my cuppa.
still.
heehee.

Date: 2005-06-17 07:19 pm (UTC)The first story I ever read by Keelywolfe was like that. Qui and Obi had to have public sex. It was great. ^_^
I haven't read any Qui/Obi stuff since I left that fandom. Someone on my flist is posting recs, though, and I'm surprised at how many names I remember.

I don't (usually) hunt out new Qui/Obi stuff. Just reread the ones I really liked back when TPM came out.

I'm more of an original trilogy fangirl myself. But this was far too amusing to pass up. ^__^
