Cleaning out the pile

Most of these have been done for a while, I'm just lazy. However I do need to get the books themselves back to work eventually.
The Christopher Killer by Alane Ferguson
This one was actually a pretty decent read. The best comparison I can make is that it's like the show 'Crossing Jordan', but with a teen and set in the middle of freakin' nowhere. Cameryn is the daughter of the town's coroner. Having shown an interest in forensics and with her father in desparate need of an assistant, Cameryn is hired to help part-time. The book didn't take too long to read, and it was barely saved from being yet another forensics murder mystery by completely fooling me on who the killer was. Not a bad read, but I don't highly recommend it.
The Angel of Death by Alane Ferguson
Sequel to The Christopher Killer. Save your time and money by skipping this one. Cameryn's a twit. Gone is all the intelligence and wit from the first book. All because of a boy who turned out to be the creep I thought he was. Boo for not managing to suprise me this time.
Dark Flight Down by Marcus Sedgwick
Sequel to The Book of Dead Days. This was excellent. I want more books about Boy and Willow, but as Boy didn't take the easy road, I doubt there will be more in this series. This book follows several days after the events of the Dead Days. Boy is now living with Kepler, Valerian's sometimes friend, and searching desparately for an answer to all the question that were left with Valerian's death. I highly recommend this one and the first book.
Temping Fate by Esther Friesner
This book was equal parts amusing and frustrating. At times it feels poorly written, like there was a book before this one that I missed. On the other hand Ilana, the main character, is a huge dork. She's even pictured on the front of the book wearing a shirt that says 'Orc, the other green meat'. heh. Ilana gets a summer temp job that 's a bit more involved than she thought. Turns out Tabby Fabricant Textiles is a front for the Goddess of Fate. And Ilana's first job: type up Death Receipts. Amusing all in all, giggled over the fact that the story takes place about 45 minutes from my house, but trying to get through it most nights was like pulling teeth.
